In a late-night escapade, a bear went on a mission to find pre-hibernation snacks and ended up raiding the kitchen of a luxurious resort in Aspen, Colorado. The incident took place at the St. Regis Aspen Resort on Monday around 11 p.m, as reported by NBC News.

According to a statement from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), a security guard at the resort encountered the four-legged intruder in the kitchen, resulting in a violent encounter. The bear attacked and knocked down the guard before making an escape. The injured guard promptly called 911 and was later treated for scratches to his back at the hospital. He was released on Tuesday.

CPW officials arrived at the resort early on Tuesday and discovered that the bear had entered through a series of doors near the courtyard, as stated in the agency's statement. The wildlife officers were able to obtain a description of the bear, along with specific identification markers that would aid in locating and properly identifying the animal.

Later in the day, wildlife officers claimed to have spotted the bear. However, due to public safety concerns, they were unable to tranquilize and capture it. CPW emphasized the need for caution, especially in light of this incident, and reminded the public that bears are still active as they prepare for hibernation. They urged residents and visitors alike to give wildlife space and remember to always be "bear aware."

No immediate comments were available from representatives of CPW or Marriott, the owner of the luxury mountain resort.

As the bear continues to elude capture, authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of residents and guests in the area. With the bear on the lam, it serves as a stark reminder that wildlife can pose unexpected dangers, and it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as they encounter the natural beauty of Aspen.
