In an update from FOX 26 Chief Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz, Houstonians can expect a significant weather change in the coming days as an Arctic Blast makes its way to the city. While Thursday will be unseasonably warm with temperatures reaching the mid-70s, a shift in conditions is expected to occur overnight.
Between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday, residents should be prepared for some overnight storms, followed by blustery conditions throughout the day. However, the weekend appears to bring clear skies, albeit accompanied by freezing temperatures early Saturday.
The real impact of the Arctic Blast will be felt on Sunday night and continue through the MLK Day holiday. Brisk north winds and chilly temperatures in the 30s are predicted to dominate the region. As the week progresses, the coldest air is anticipated to arrive on Tuesday morning, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as the low 20s.
Concerning wintry precipitation, there is a slight chance of cold rain, light sleet, or ice pellets on Monday, with an even smaller possibility of light snow flurries. While significant snowfall is not expected, precaution must be taken as even limited wintry conditions can lead to hazardous travel conditions.
Houstonians are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information from reputable sources and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this Arctic Blast.
