The suit, which was recently filed, details Tarshis' claims of being drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby on two separate occasions in the early 1970s.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Tarshis alleges that she first met Cosby at the age of 19 through a mutual friend. She claims that she was invited to the studio where 'The Cosby Show' was being filmed for a one-on-one writing session. Tarshis states that while alone with Cosby in his private bungalow on the lot, she was given a drink by Cosby, which she consumed. Shortly afterward, she began to feel dizzy and passed out. Tarshis claims she regained consciousness to find Cosby undressing her.
Tarshis further asserts that about a year later, Cosby contacted her again and invited her to a music fair in New York City, which she reluctantly agreed to attend. During their journey, Tarshis alleges that she was given another drink and once again experienced weakness and loss of consciousness. She claims to have woken up naked in bed next to Cosby, feeling violated both vaginally and anally.
The lawsuit filed by Tarshis includes allegations of assault, battery, infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment. She is seeking significant damages for the harm she allegedly suffered. Cosby's representative has thus far provided no comment regarding the latest lawsuit.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Cosby has faced such accusations. He has been sued by numerous women in the past, with several cases coming to trial. Notably, he was found guilty of assaulting Andrea Costand in Pennsylvania a few years ago, only to have his conviction later overturned.
It is important to mention Tarshis previously shared her allegations against Cosby years ago and participated in a controversial interview with CNN's Don Lemon. During the interview, Lemon seemed to imply that Tarshis could have potentially prevented her assault if she had not engaged in oral sex with Cosby, suggesting "there are ways not to perform oral sex."
These new allegations against Cosby add to the long list of accusations he has faced over the years. As the legal proceedings progress, the outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for both Cosby's reputation and the ongoing conversation surrounding sexual assault and the abuse of power in the entertainment industry.
