In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, comedian and staunch Israel supporter Jon Lovitz expressed his sharp disapproval of Senator Bernie Sanders and members of the Democratic "Squad" for their opposition to the Jewish State. Lovitz, who is Jewish himself, referred to Sanders as a "self-loathing Jew" and criticized his description of being a "Democratic Socialist" as opposed to a communist.
During the interview, Lovitz highlighted the difference between socialism and communism, stating that the only distinction is that a democratic socialist is someone people vote for, while a communist simply appoints themselves without any election. He condemned Sanders' stance on Israel, claiming that the senator believes there should be no funds allocated to the country and accused the Squad of being deeply anti-Semitic.
Lovitz also mocked Sanders for owning three homes despite his senatorial salary of $174,000, stating that it is not normal for someone with that income to possess multiple properties. Additionally, Lovitz expressed his concern over the Democratic Party's shift towards the left, specifically pointing out the Squad's promotion of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement.
The comedian singled out Representative Rashida Tlaib for her involvement in a secret Facebook group that praised Hamas, the Palestinian militant organization. Lovitz criticized Tlaib for spreading lies, referencing her false claim that Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500 people when evidence showed otherwise. He argued that her actions demonstrated a wish to eliminate Israel, which he believed to be inherently anti-Semitic.
Lovitz also addressed the comments made by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, though not related to Israel. He referred to her as an "idiot" for suggesting that people should reconsider having children due to climate change concerns. He criticized her stance, stating that if followed, it would lead to a future with no human population remaining.
When asked about the divide among liberals in both Washington D.C. and Hollywood on the Israel-Hamas conflict, Lovitz attributed it to jealousy, fear, and misinformation. He described how, prior to the conflict, many Palestinians relied on Israel for employment, and he highlighted the fact that a significant portion of Arab-Israeli citizens in Israel hold political power through their own party.
Lovitz argued that Palestinians living in the region were originally Jordanian refugees, and it was Yasser Arafat who changed their designation to Palestinians in 1964. He also emphasized that there are Israeli and Palestinian citizens who coexist peacefully, contradicting the notion that the conflict is solely between the two groups.
Expressing skepticism towards calls for a cease-fire, Lovitz criticized Hamas for its vow to continue attacking Israel. He denounced the organization's taking of hostages and supported Israel's refusal to negotiate their release. Lovitz believed that if Hamas were removed, a democratic government could be established in Gaza, resulting in improvements such as education, healthcare, and women's rights.
Jon Lovitz, known for his roles in "Saturday Night Live" and films like "A League of Their Own," is no stranger to controversy. While his comedic style tends to lean towards the socially liberal, Lovitz considers himself fiscally conservative. As he continues to tour as a stand-up comedian and make appearances on various talk shows, Lovitz remains an outspoken advocate for Israel and a vocal critic of those he perceives as anti-Semitic.
As the Israel-Hamas conflict unfolds, the political and ideological divisions surrounding the issue continue to accentuate the complexities and controversies involved.
