New York Yankees' power hitter Giancarlo Stanton has been placed on the injured list for the eighth time in six seasons due to a strained left hamstring. This occurred during Saturday night's game against the Atlanta Braves, where Stanton left the field in the fourth inning after doubling off the center-field wall.

The 34-year-old former MVP will undergo imaging to assess the extent of the injury. Stanton, who has missed 38% of the Yankees' games over the past five seasons, has had a history of dealing with various injuries throughout his career.

Manager Aaron Boone expressed hope that Stanton's recovery will be swift, considering his previous experience with similar setbacks. Yankees' General Manager Brian Cashman had previously commented on Stanton's injury-prone nature, stating that it was likely he would get hurt again at some point.

Despite his injury issues, Stanton has played in 69 out of the team's first 79 games this season, primarily as a designated hitter. He currently holds a batting average of .246 and has contributed 18 home runs and 45 RBIs. With 420 home runs, he remains the active leader in this category.

Stanton's absence will undoubtedly be felt in the Yankees' offensive lineup. His ability to hit homers and clutch performances with runners on base have been crucial to the team's success. The hope among his teammates, such as outfielder Aaron Judge who hit his 28th home run of the season, is for Stanton's injury to not be a long-term setback.

This recent injury adds to the list of ailments Stanton has suffered over the years, including strained right biceps, right knee ligament strains, left hamstring strains, left quadriceps strains, ankle inflammation, and Achilles tendinitis. His healthiest season with the Yankees was in 2018, when he played in 158 games after being acquired from the Miami Marlins.

The Yankees have experienced their fair share of injuries this season, with infielder DJ LeMahieu making his season debut on May 28 after breaking his right foot in spring training and ace pitcher Gerrit Cole's delayed start due to right elbow issues. Additionally, right-hander Clarke Schmidt and first baseman Anthony Rizzo have also been sidelined due to injuries.

Despite these setbacks, the Yankees have had a strong start to the season with a 52-27 record, the best in the Major Leagues. As fans await updates on Stanton's condition, the team remains hopeful for his speedy recovery and his return to contribute to their offensive firepower.
