Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southeast Wisconsin, Snowfall Expected
Milwaukee, WI - In an unexpected turn of events, a winter weather advisory has been issued for several counties in southeast Wisconsin, as snow is forecasted to sweep through the region starting late Thursday, March 21 and continuing into Friday.
The affected areas include Dodge County, Fond du Lac County, and Sheboygan County, where the advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, Jefferson County, Kenosha County, Milwaukee County, Ozaukee County, Racine County, Walworth County, Washington County, and Waukesha County will be under the advisory from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to meteorologists, a storm system is expected to move in from the west late Thursday night, bringing slushy snowfall to the entire southeast region. The snowfall is expected to be steady and widespread throughout midday Friday, tapering off by the afternoon and evening.
Friday morning and midday are projected to be the periods of heaviest snowfall, potentially leading to difficult and messy commutes for residents. The majority of southeast Wisconsin is expected to receive about 3-6 inches of slushy snowfall, with the possibility of a heavier band setting up along the I-94 corridor, greatly affecting Friday morning traffic.
Remarkably, no measurable snowfall has occurred during the month of March so far, with only trace amounts due to flurries. This is particularly noteworthy, considering that Milwaukee typically averages 6.7 inches of snow in March.
Looking ahead, another round of mixed precipitation is anticipated for Sunday, with the potential for snow changing to rain. Residents are advised to stay updated on the changing weather conditions and prepare accordingly.
As the region braces for this unexpected snowfall, authorities are urging caution on the roads and advising residents to allow extra time for their commutes. Stay tuned to local news outlets and weather reports for the latest updates on this winter weather advisory.
