**Commanders Release Emmanuel Forbes, Place Austin Ekeler on Injured Reserve**
In a surprising move, the Washington Commanders have decided to part ways with Emmanuel Forbes, their first-round pick from the 2023 draft. Forbes was waived from the roster on Saturday.
Despite being a high draft pick, Forbes struggled to secure his position within the team. He appeared in only six games this season and saw limited playing time when active. The new coaching and personnel teams seem to have different opinions about his abilities compared to their predecessors who selected Forbes in the draft. Given his draft pedigree, it would not be surprising if another team picks him up to see if they can harness his potential.
In addition to Forbes's release, the Commanders have also placed running back Austin Ekeler on injured reserve. Ekeler is currently managing his second concussion of the season, which means he will be out for at least four games.
To compensate for these roster changes, the Commanders have elevated defensive tackle Carl Davis and kicker Zane Gonzalez from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Titans.
