ICARO Media Group
Warner Bros. Discovery has recently announced a major restructuring of its global studio tours, retail destinations, and location-based experiences. This move brings together licensed entertainment and owned and operated teams under a single worldwide division called Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences.
The newly formed organization, led by Simon Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of WBD Studios, aims to strategically expand the company's fan-facing experiences and explore new ventures that capitalize on intellectual property (IP) like those with Universal Destinations & Experiences and Miral. Additionally, it will oversee the operation of existing businesses, including Warner Bros. Studio Tours in London, Hollywood, and Tokyo.
According to Bruce Campbell, Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer, Warner Bros. boasts an impressive array of location-based experiences worldwide, ranging from theme parks and tours to retail and exhibits. By consolidating these teams under one roof, the company can leverage its talent and resources more effectively to offer even more authentic and engaging in-person experiences and events in every market.
The newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences division combines the existing global themed entertainment licensing group with the Studio Tours & Retail owned and operated businesses. This new cohesive and unified division will develop and execute global strategies that offer partners the right mix of business models, positioning Warner Bros. as a global leader in the creation, development, licensing, and operation of location-based entertainment.
Simon Robinson will report to Bruce Campbell for Experiences and will continue reporting to WBD's CFO, Gunnar Wiendenfels, for his roles in studio and content operations and finance. Peter van Roden, EVP of Global Themed Entertainment, will continue leading the licensed location-based entertainment and theme parks businesses as well as global business development. Peter's team will continue managing partnerships with Universal Destinations & Experiences for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter locations, Miral for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and The WB Abu Dhabi, and other licensed exhibitions.
Sarah Roots, EVP of Worldwide Studio Tours & Retail, will continue leading Warner Bros. Discovery's owned and operated experiences, including the renowned Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, and various Harry Potter flagship and retail stores.
Simon Robinson expressed his confidence in the expertise of Peter van Roden and Sarah Roots, highlighting their ability to curate and execute top-quality global location-based experiences. With a shared dedication to meticulous attention to detail, the teams are set to enhance the Warner Bros. experience for partners and fans alike.
