In a recent announcement, Vitamix has expanded its recall of certain blending containers and blade bases due to a safety hazard. The recall encompasses all Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers, as well as the corresponding blade bases, including those that were repaired as part of a previous recall in August 2018.

The affected containers and blade bases were sold with certain Vitamix Venturist and Ascent Series blenders, such as the Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, A2500, A3300, and A3500 models. Additionally, these items were sold separately, as sets, or bundled in various configurations. Consumers can identify the recalled products by the presence of the Vitamix logo on the blending container.

It is important to note that this recall includes all consumers, including those who participated in the 2018 recall. Vitamix advises all users to immediately stop using the recalled 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blade bases. Consumers are urged to contact Vitamix for a repair kit, which consists of a protective plastic shroud to attach over the blade base and additional instructional labels.

The decision to expand the recall comes after Vitamix received a total of 27 reports of lacerations, including 11 reports stemming from the previous 2018 recall. These incidents occurred when users' hands came into contact with the exposed blades, highlighting the potential danger associated with the faulty containers and blade bases.

The affected products were sold nationwide at various retailers, including Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Target, Williams Sonoma, Walmart, as well as specialty and independent stores. They were also available for purchase online through Vitamix.com, Amazon.com, and QVC.com. The products were sold between April 2017 and May 2024, with prices ranging from $30 to $990 when sold with other products.

For more information regarding this recall, consumers can contact Vitamix via their toll-free number at 855-215-5178 from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT. Alternatively, consumers can reach out to Vitamix via email at service@vitamix.com or visit the dedicated recall website, www.BlendingCupBowlRecall.expertinquiry.com, where they can click on "Product Recalls" at the top of the page for further details.

Vitamix is committed to ensuring the safety of its customers and encourages prompt action to prevent any potential injuries. By providing repair kits, the company aims to address the laceration hazard and mitigate any further incidents related to the recalled blending containers and blade bases.
