### 81 Arrested Following Violent Clashes in Paris After PSG's Champions League Win
In Paris, post-match celebrations turned chaotic as police arrested at least 81 individuals following violent clashes that erupted after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)'s victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final. The Parc des Princes stadium became a temporary fan zone for the event, which drew approximately 48,000 supporters who gathered to watch the game on big screens.
Throughout the night, social media footage depicted disconcerting scenes of police officers armed with batons engaging with large crowds. Nearby, several fires broke out, prompting fire brigades to be dispatched to multiple locations to control the flames.
Bruno Retailleau, France's interior minister, expressed his dismay on social media, emphasizing the contrast between passionate PSG supporters celebrating their team's outstanding performance and a minority of troublemakers causing havoc on the streets. Retailleau called for a decisive response from internal security forces and voiced his support for the police handling the situation, condemning the destructive behavior that marred the celebrations.
Authorities deployed around 5,400 police officers throughout Paris, including on the famous Champs-Élysées, where tear gas and pepper spray were used to disperse unruly crowds. Reports from Reuters indicated that a car was set ablaze near the Parc des Princes and several arrests were already underway by the end of the match.
Major traffic disruptions were noted, with roads around the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées boulevard, and adjoining streets being closed to manage the crowd and maintain order.
Tensions were also high in Munich where, earlier in the day, PSG and Inter Milan fans clashed at the Fröttmaning station while traveling to the Allianz Arena for the final. There, supporters hurled stones at each other and even ventured onto train tracks, causing significant travel delays.
PSG's previous win over Arsenal in the semi-final on May 7 had already led to unrest in Paris, resulting in 47 arrests and three injuries after a car incident.
The recent disturbances underscore the challenges faced by authorities in maintaining public safety during large-scale sporting events and the need for effective measures to manage passionate yet sometimes unruly crowds.
