In an announcement made on Monday, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs was revealed as a unanimous selection for the NBA's All-Rookie team this season. The panel of 99 voters also named Wembanyama as the unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year.

Joining Wembanyama on the All-Rookie First Team are Chet Holmgren from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Brandon Miller from the Charlotte Hornets, Jaime Jaquez Jr. from the Miami Heat, and Brandin Podziemski from the Golden State Warriors. Holmgren, who was the runner-up for Rookie of the Year, also earned a unanimous first-team selection. Miller, Jaquez, and Podziemski rounded up the top five in the rookie of the year voting, and they maintained the same order in the All-Rookie team voting. Jaquez, Wembanyama, and Holmgren were the only players to appear on all 99 ballots.

The All-Rookie Second Team comprises Dereck Lively II from the Dallas Mavericks, Amen Thompson from the Houston Rockets, Keyonte George from the Utah Jazz, Cason Wallace from the Thunder, and GG Jackson from the Memphis Grizzlies. Jackson secured the last spot on the team by a single vote over Trayce Jackson-Davis from the Warriors.

The announcement of the All-Defensive team selections is slated for Tuesday, while the unveiling of the All-NBA team is scheduled for Wednesday. Wembanyama, who finished second in the defensive player of the year race, is a likely candidate for the All-Defense First Team. Additionally, he is expected to have received consideration for the All-NBA team, which would make him the first rookie since Tim Duncan and David Robinson to achieve such a feat.

Historically, only five rookies have made the All-Defensive team, including legends such as Manute Bol, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. If Wembanyama secures a spot on the All-NBA team, he would become the 22nd rookie in NBA history to accomplish this feat. This exclusive group includes iconic figures like Michael Jordan and Larry Bird.

With his exceptional performance and recognition across various league awards, Victor Wembanyama has undoubtedly solidified his status as a rising star in the NBA. Fans eagerly await the forthcoming announcements to see whether Wembanyama will continue to make history with his inclusion in the All-Defensive and All-NBA teams.
