An active-duty member of the US Air Force tragically passed away after a shocking incident outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, on Sunday. The airman was identified as Bushnell and was confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department and a spokesperson for the US Air Force.

The harrowing event unfolded around 1 p.m. in northwest Washington when Bushnell poured an unknown liquid over himself and ignited it while shouting "Free Palestine." Promptly, police officers rushed to extinguish the flames, and Bushnell was then transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and Emergency Services, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Local authorities are collaborating with the US Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to investigate the incident further. This occurrence echoes a similar incident in December when an individual set themselves on fire outside the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta as an extreme act of political protest.

The Air Force has stated that additional information will be released after notifying Bushnell's next of kin. The tragic event has shocked both local and national communities, shedding light on the complexities of political expression. This story will continue to develop as more details emerge.
