Indian Railways has launched an investigation after a freight train, carrying stone chips, traveled more than 70km without a driver on board. The train, which was en route from Jammu to Punjab, began moving down a sloping track after the driver and his assistant disembarked for a crew change. Officials reported that the driverless 53-wagon train reached speeds of nearly 100km/h and managed to pass through five stations before being stopped by placing wood blocks on the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and railway crossings were closed along the train's path.
In another incident, 41 Indian construction workers were successfully rescued after being trapped in a tunnel for 17 days following a landslide that partially caved in the tunnel. The workers were freed from the tunnel on (date not specified). Rescuers have shared a video of the workers as they were brought to safety. According to officials, a preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that "human error" was the cause of the collision.
