Prior to coaching at Florida Atlantic, May served as an assistant under Mike White at the University of Florida from 2015 to 2018, and at Louisiana Tech from 2011 to 2015 under head coach Kerry Rupp. He began his coaching career at Eastern Michigan in 2005, working under Charlies Ramsey, and then moved to Murray State in 2006 to assist Billy Kennedy. May's coaching journey started at his alma mater, Indiana University, where he served as a student manager under legendary coach Bob Knight from 1996 to 2000. After graduating, he became the administrative assistant/video coordinator at the University of Southern California.
May and his wife, Anna, are proud parents of three sons: Jack, Charlie, and Eli. Jack currently plays basketball at the University of Florida, while Charlie is a player at Central Florida.
