Passengers aboard a United Airlines flight had to be evacuated after the aircraft rolled off a runway and became stuck in a grassy area at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport on Friday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 160 passengers and six crew members on board, according to a statement by United Airlines.

Video footage taken after the incident showed the plane tilted to one side, with one of its wings perilously close to the ground. The flight, identified as Flight 2477, had arrived from Memphis, Tennessee, and was in the process of taxiing towards a terminal gate when the Boeing 737 Max 8 veered off the pavement, as stated by the Houston Airport System.

Concerned for the safety of the passengers, stairs were quickly brought to the plane, and with the assistance of the crew, all passengers were able to safely disembark, United Airlines confirmed. The airline, however, did not provide immediate details regarding the cause of the incident.

Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have initiated investigations into the incident, aiming to determine the factors that contributed to the plane's veering off the runway.

In a statement, United Airlines assured that all passengers have been bused to the terminal and are being assisted by the airline's team with their onward connections and other needs. Efforts are also underway to promptly reunite customers with their belongings that were left on the aircraft. The airline pledged to cooperate with the NTSB, FAA, and Boeing to gain a comprehensive understanding of what transpired during the incident.

Mike Allard, one of the passengers on the flight, described the unexpected turn of events. He stated that upon landing, he heard a loud noise before the plane tilted over, catching everyone off guard. He speculated that the plane may have been traveling too fast, causing it to slide off the runway.

Despite the disruption to his plans, Allard expressed gratitude that everyone onboard emerged unharmed. As a pastor returning home to conduct a funeral, he had to find a replacement due to the incident. "I'm glad everybody's OK. I think the Lord was with us and protected us," he said.

Despite the incident, flights in and out of Bush Intercontinental Airport continued without interruption, as confirmed by the airport system. This incident follows another relatively minor mishap involving a United Airlines jetliner, which lost a tire during takeoff from San Francisco on Thursday but landed safely in Los Angeles without any reported injuries.

Authorities will now focus on determining the exact circumstances that led to the United Airlines plane veering off the runway, as they work towards ensuring the continued safety of air travel.
