**Mohamed Salah Yet to Receive New Contract Offer from Liverpool**
Mohamed Salah has revealed that Liverpool has not yet presented him with a formal contract extension, stirring uncertainties about his future at the club. The star forward’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the ongoing season, and he admits that he is "probably more out than in" come next summer.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been a prolific force, netting 223 goals in 367 appearances. Come January 1, he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs overseas if Liverpool does not secure his extended services.
Following his match-winning performance in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday, Salah expressed his concerns to reporters. "We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club. I'm probably more out than in," he shared, noting the lack of progress on his contract as the year draws to a close.
The Egyptian forward, a beloved figure among Liverpool fans, emphasized his connection with the club and its supporters. "You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future,” he said. He acknowledged the mutual affection between him and the fans but reiterated that the decision lies beyond their control. "I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it is not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let's wait and see."
When asked about his disappointment in the club’s delay in extending an offer, Salah confirmed his feelings. "Of course, yeah. I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see,” he added.
Sources within Anfield have insisted that discussions with Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, have been positive and are ongoing. The club’s sporting director Richard Hughes, who took on his role earlier this year, has inherited a challenging situation, with key players like captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold also nearing the end of their contracts next summer.
Salah's age, coupled with his status as the highest-paid player at Liverpool, has contributed to the complex nature of these negotiations. Despite a considerable £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad in 2023, which Liverpool turned down, Salah chose not to comment on speculation linking him to a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. "I don't want to speak about that. I am focused with the team now," he stated.
