A Ukrainian model, Sawa Pontyjska, has announced her intention to sue the Cannes Film Festival over a physical encounter with a female security guard that went viral. Pontyjska claims she was assaulted while attending the premiere of "Marcello Mio" and is seeking 100,000 euros in damages.
The incident, captured on camera, shows the security guard attempting to drag Pontyjska inside the venue, with several other ushers intervening as the model tries to break free. This altercation gained significant attention, especially after the same security guard was involved in arguments with Kelly Rowland, K-pop star Yoona, and actress Massiel Taveras.
According to Pontyjska, the female staffer put her in a "bear hug" as they stood on the Palais des Festivals staircase, causing her to feel brutally restrained. She tried to escape but was pushed towards the venue's entrance. The model alleges that the security guard was trying to prevent anyone from witnessing their interaction.
Apart from the physical and psychological harm allegedly caused by the incident, Pontyjska also claims that her reputation has been damaged. Although the lawsuit has not been located, the model shared photos of the legal documents on her social media, which have since been removed.
Pontyjska has reached out to her Instagram followers for assistance in finding a "serious lawyer," indicating that she may have already retained one. Some reports suggest that the lawsuit has already been filed, although confirmation is yet to be obtained.
The Cannes Film Festival organizers now face a potential legal battle as Pontyjska seeks legal recourse for the altercation she experienced with the security guard. It remains to be seen how this incident will unfold and whether the model's claims will be upheld in court.
