The U.S. Navy has identified the sailor who went overboard from the USS Mason while deployed in the Red Sea. The sailor has been identified as Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Oriola Michael Aregbesola, who was assigned to the "Swamp Foxes" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 74.

According to military officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday, and the sailor's whereabouts remain unknown. A search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate and recover him.

Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, recently revealed during an interview on "60 Minutes" that approximately 7,000 American sailors are deployed in the Red Sea region. The deployment was ordered by President Biden in response to ongoing attacks by Houthi rebels, who took control of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, in 2014.

The Houthi rebels have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea as a show of solidarity with Hamas. The increased presence of the U.S. Navy in the region aims to deter further aggression and ensure the safety of maritime activities.

As the search and rescue efforts continue, the U.S. Navy is dedicated to doing everything possible to locate Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Oriola Michael Aregbesola and bring him safely back on board the USS Mason.
