In a northeast Colorado Springs neighborhood, firefighters are currently battling two house fires that have caused significant damage and led to the displacement of six individuals. The fire, which originated in one home, quickly spread to a neighboring house, engulfing both duplexes in the blaze.
The incident took place on Vista del Tierra in Banning Lewis Ranch, prompting authorities to call for a second alarm. Minutes later, a third alarm was issued, bringing additional resources to the scene to combat the growing inferno. Witnesses report that the smoke could be seen from across town, underscoring the magnitude of the fire's intensity.
Firefighters managed to gain control of the flames by 1:53 p.m., according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department. However, extensive damage rendered all four units inhabitable, leaving six individuals without a place to call home.
As of now, the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. Authorities will work to determine the factors that contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. The affected residents will be assisted with finding temporary shelter and support, while the investigation progresses.
This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
