Two Dead, Five Injured in Shooting near Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest DC

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a shooting incident occurred near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest D.C., resulting in the deaths of two men and injuries to five other individuals. The incident took place at the intersection of Seventh and P Street NW around 3 a.m., according to local police.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered the two deceased men with gunshot wounds. At least one male suspect reportedly fled the area on foot and is currently at large. The suspect, described as wearing light pants and a blue shirt, was last seen in the 700 block of P Street Northwest.
At a press conference, Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll shared that initial information suggests a total of seven people were shot. Alongside the two fatalities, four others were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, while one individual managed to walk into a hospital seeking medical aid. All victims are confirmed to be adults, and there have been no updates on their current conditions.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but preliminary findings indicate that one or more suspects intentionally discharged a firearm at the victims, as stated by the police.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the police department at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $50,000 has been announced for any valuable leads.
