More than a dozen people sustained mostly minor injuries when a tram used for tours crashed into a railing at Universal Studios Hollywood near Los Angeles, according to authorities and the theme park's spokesperson. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, prompting a response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department units.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened as the tram was navigating a turn, causing the last car to collide with a metal guardrail. This collision resulted in the tram tilting and ejecting multiple passengers. The exact number of moderate injuries sustained remains undisclosed.

Fifteen individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of their minor injuries, as confirmed by the fire department. The theme park's spokesperson acknowledged the existence of "multiple minor injuries" but refrained from providing further details regarding the accident.

According to Sheriff's Lt. Maria Abal, the four-car tram, primarily used for movie studio backlot tours, may have encountered a brake issue. The investigation into the crash is being led by the California Highway Patrol, which stated that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the incident.

The tram, part of the World-Famous Studio Tour circuit, provides visitors with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of iconic Universal movies like "Jaws" and Jordan Peele's upcoming film, "Nope." Coinciding with the accident, the theme park is preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the tour, set to commence on Friday.
