In the early hours of Saturday, a devastating car crash in Pasadena resulted in the death of three individuals and left three others hospitalized. The incident occurred when a Tesla Model 3 slammed into an unoccupied building near the intersection of Sierra Madre and Foothill boulevards.

According to authorities from the Pasadena Police Department, the single-vehicle collision happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. The six occupants of the Tesla, ranging in age from 17 to 22, were all tragically affected by the crash. Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo revealed that three occupants were ejected from the vehicle upon impact.

Tragically, the driver and two passengers succumbed to their injuries at the accident scene, while the survivors were rushed to a nearby hospital. Although they sustained serious injuries, their current condition is stable.

The crash caused significant damage to the building and also led to the toppling of a power line, resulting in the temporary closure of the intersection. However, authorities were later able to reopen the area for traffic.

Preliminary investigations conducted by Russo have indicated that speed played a crucial role in the collision. The Tesla was reportedly traveling at more than double the speed limit when the driver ran a red light and lost control of the vehicle. The car struck a curb, causing it to become airborne before ultimately colliding with a city light pole, a power pole, and the unoccupied building.

Further investigations are underway to ascertain the exact speed of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities are also working to determine whether the Tesla's Autopilot feature was engaged during the incident.

Additionally, investigators have noted that there were four individuals in the backseat of the vehicle, none of whom were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. This emphasizes the importance of adhering to safety measures, such as wearing seatbelts, to minimize the risk of severe injuries in such incidents.

As the investigation continues, the community of Pasadena mourns the loss of three young lives and hopes for the full recovery of those injured in this tragic car crash.
