The University of Wyoming swim team is facing a devastating loss after a deadly car crash took the lives of three of their swimmers. The victims, an 18-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 22, were involved in a single-car wreck in Northern Colorado's Larimer County, more than an hour away from the university's campus in Laramie, Wyoming.

Two other male swimmers, aged 20 and 21, were injured in the crash and have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The team's head coach, Dave Denniston, expressed profound sadness over the tragedy and stated that more information will be released once the families of the victims have been notified.

The university's president, Ed Seidel, expressed deep sorrow for the loss and highlighted the impact of the tragedy on the university community. The Wyoming women's swim team is currently competing at the 2024 Mountain West Championships in Houston, Texas, while coping with the heartbreaking news.

The cause of the crash, which involved a Toyota Rav4 rolling multiple times down an embankment, is still under investigation. The university's athletic director, Tom Burman, extended support to the team, families, and friends affected by the loss and emphasized the availability of counseling services for those in need during this difficult time.
