Tragic Car Crash Claims Lives of Siblings in Rancho Cucamonga

A close-knit Rancho Cucamonga community is devastated following a devastating car crash that took the lives of two siblings on Friday afternoon. Elias Cruz, 17, and his sister Sarah Cruz, 14, tragically lost their lives after Elias lost control of the vehicle he was driving around 4:25 p.m. The car collided with a pole and then crashed into a tree near Wilson and Haven Avenues.

Both Elias and Sarah, who were talented student-athletes at Los Osos High School, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, leaving their family, friends, and teammates in shock and sorrow. Elias was a junior and a dedicated member of the Los Osos baseball team, while Sarah excelled in volleyball and softball at the school.

The grief-stricken Cruz family received an outpouring of support from the community as dozens of friends, family members, teammates, and members of the Los Osos High School community gathered at the crash site to pay their respects. Rey Cruz, the father of Elias and Sarah, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support, emphasizing that his children were the center of their lives. He spoke about Elias' desire to be included and highlighted the unity shown by the community during this difficult time.

In an unexpected revelation, Rey mentioned that he would miss the playful scuffles between Elias and Sarah, finding solace and humor in the noise of their arguments. His words served as a somber reminder not to take seemingly trivial moments for granted.

To help cover the funeral expenses, the Cruz family initiated a GoFundMe campaign on Friday evening, requesting contributions from the community. By 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, a heartfelt response had already led to approximately $8,250 being raised towards the $30,000 goal.

The loss of Elias and Sarah has sent shockwaves through the Rancho Cucamonga community, leaving classmates, teammates, and loved ones grappling with grief. As they come to terms with this heartbreaking tragedy, the community is coming together to support the Cruz family during this unimaginably difficult time.
