Tragic Accident Claims Life of Woman in Mount Washington Fall

In a devastating incident on Saturday, a woman lost her life after plunging approximately 600 feet down Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington, according to authorities. The U.S. Forest Service reported that Madison Saltsburg, a 20-year-old individual, had fallen down the steep ravine, encountering treacherous icy and hard snow surfaces alongside her skiing partner.
Upon receiving the distress call, response teams from the Mount Washington Avalanche Center and the U.S. Forest Service promptly initiated efforts to evacuate Saltsburg from the mountain. Tragically, despite their best attempts, the woman's injuries proved fatal.
Additionally, the U.S. Forest Service disclosed that two other skiers suffered traumatic injuries as a result of ice and rocks falling down the icy and firm snow surface. Although these incidents were distressing, they ultimately did not result in life-threatening injuries.
Throughout the day, several other falls in the perilously steep mountaineering terrain were witnessed by authorities, luckily without severe consequences.
