Toyota Recalls Over 381,000 Tacoma Trucks in the US Due to Brake Performance Issue

In a recent announcement, Toyota Motor has issued a recall for 381,199 Toyota Tacoma trucks with model years 2022 and 2023 in the United States. The recall comes as a result of a brake performance issue that raises the risk of potential crashes.
The problem originates from welding debris left on the ends of the rear axle assembly during the manufacturing process. This oversight could potentially lead to a separation of the axle shaft, posing serious safety concerns, according to Toyota's notice on Tuesday.
Affected customers will be notified of the recall via mail, with notifications expected to be sent out by late April 2024. However, Toyota has not provided any information on how it came to discover the defective brakes.
This marks the third recall announced by Toyota within the past month. On February 23, the Japanese automaker voluntarily recalled 280,000 pickup truck and SUV models due to a safety issue related to the transmission. The issue caused the vehicles to "creep forward" even when in neutral, which could result in an increased risk of crashes. The recall affected various models, including Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, Sequoia, and the luxury Lexus LX 600 vehicles from 2022 to 2024 model years.
Additionally, around 19,000 Mirai and Lexus LS, LC, and ES vehicles with model years 2023 and 2024 distributed in North America, Japan, and Asia have been recalled due to a software programming issue. Furthermore, approximately 4,000 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles are being recalled due to safety concerns regarding the head restraints on the rear fold-down seats. These issues increase the risk of injury in certain collisions.
These recent recalls follow a previous warning by Toyota late last year, noting that approximately 1.2 million Toyota vehicles had airbags that were not deploying as intended. The affected models, including Avalon, Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Lexus ES250, ES300H, ES350, RX350 Highlander, and Sienna Hybrids, included one million vehicles in the US alone.
To assist consumers in checking if their vehicle is affected by any of these recalls, Toyota has created a website where users can enter their license plate number and verify if their vehicle falls under any of the recent recalls.
It is vital for Toyota owners, particularly those with 2022 and 2023 Tacoma trucks, to stay informed and take the necessary steps outlined in the recall notices to address the identified issues promptly. Ensuring vehicle safety is of utmost importance, and Toyota remains committed to rectifying any potential risks associated with their vehicles.
