Arizona Officer Dies in Tragic Crash While Responding to Call

In a devastating incident in Tucson, Arizona, a police officer lost his life after a driver collided with his patrol car. Officer Adam Buckner, 31, was responding to a call with his emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring when the accident occurred, authorities confirmed on Monday.

The collision occurred on Sunday night at an intersection close to the University of Arizona campus. Tucson police reported that Officer Buckner had the right of way at the time of the accident. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

According to Tucson Police Chief Chad Kasmar, Officer Buckner was proceeding through the intersection with a green light when a vehicle turning at the intersection failed to yield to the officer's marked patrol car, sirens, and lights. Chief Kasmar did not disclose the nature of the call to which Officer Buckner was responding.

Following the crash, community members and fellow officers at the scene immediately provided first aid and performed CPR on Officer Buckner until paramedics arrived. He was then transported to Banner-University Medical Center, where he tragically passed away.

Officer Buckner's journey in law enforcement started in 2017 with the New Orleans Police Department, where he eventually became a detective. He joined the Tucson Police Department in November 2021 and was highly regarded as an exceptional officer.

"Officer Buckner was not only a dedicated law enforcement professional but also a beloved son, brother, husband, and friend to many," said Chief Kasmar during a press conference held on Monday, expressing his condolences to Officer Buckner's family and colleagues.
