### Sainz Dominates in Mexico City with Victory and Pole Double for Ferrari
Carlos Sainz showcased an extraordinary performance at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, storming to both pole position and a commanding race victory for Ferrari. This win marked a significant statement for Sainz, who regained the lead from Max Verstappen with style and never looked back. Verstappen's race was hampered by two penalties following altercations with Lando Norris, which provided ample drama for the weekend.
Kevin Magnussen also emerged as a standout performer, propelling Haas to a commendable finish inside the top 10 after a strong showing in Q3. Magnussen’s performance not only outshone his teammate Nico Hulkenberg but also reinforced his potential when everything clicks. Hulkenberg, while not matching Magnussen’s pace, contributed to a double Q3 appearance and points finish for Haas, adding to the team’s positive momentum following updates from the United States Grand Prix.
Lando Norris found himself embroiled in another high-stakes battle with Verstappen, benefiting from the Dutchman’s penalties to seize a bonus P2. A late error by Charles Leclerc further aided Norris's climb, rounding off an eventful weekend for the McLaren driver.
Pierre Gasly provided a beacon of hope for Alpine, matching Magnussen’s achievements by securing a spot in Q3 and scoring points. Despite his initial advancement in qualifying due to Yuki Tsunoda’s crash, Gasly demonstrated his merit with a solid race performance.
Leclerc admitted to being off the pace compared to Sainz, having missed the first practice session. Despite capitalizing on the Norris-Verstappen tussle to run in P2, a mistake at the final corner thwarted his attempt at securing a consecutive one-two finish for Ferrari. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, who tied with Leclerc in the Power Rankings, managed to claim P4 after a close battle with his Mercedes teammate George Russell.
Russell experienced another challenging weekend, marred by a heavy crash in practice and ongoing damage in the race. Despite these setbacks, he finished close behind Hamilton, demonstrating resilience throughout the competition.
Franco Colapinto, although missing out on points, continued to show promise in his role, advancing from Q1 elimination to P12. The Argentinian led Williams after Alex Albon’s early exit, cheered on by numerous enthusiastic supporters.
Liam Lawson rounded out the top half of the Power Rankings list with a mixed performance. His hopes for Q3 were dashed by a teammate’s crash, and his race involved a tense encounter with Sergio Perez, the local favorite.
Valtteri Bottas and Oscar Piastri narrowly missed the top-10 cut. Bottas managed a decent P14 finish, while Piastri converted a Q1 elimination into an eighth-place result, demonstrating their competitive spirit.
This weekend in Mexico City saw new heights of competition and drama, as Sainz’s exceptional victory set the bar high and other drivers delivered noteworthy performances across the board.
