His daring racecraft, as evidenced by his brilliant maneuver to overtake Oscar Piastri at the start of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, showcases his audacity and skill.

Despite Verstappen's accolades, a darker side to his racing has repeatedly surfaced, often either ignored or downplayed by the media, fans, and officials. This side was once again apparent during the Spanish Grand Prix. Under immense pressure, after being asked by his team to allow George Russell to pass, Verstappen slowed down, allowing Russell to draw alongside before accelerating again and colliding with the Mercedes. The stewards levied a penalty that many viewed as overly lenient for such an intentional act.

This wasn't an isolated incident. Verstappen has previously shown unsportsmanlike behavior, such as brake-testing Lewis Hamilton during the Saudi Arabian GP in 2021, and pushing rivals off the track in races like the 2021 Brazilian GP and the 2024 Mexico race.
