In a highly publicized battle over differing views on the Israel-Hamas conflict, The Daily Wire, the conservative media empire founded by Ben Shapiro, has officially cut ties with controversial figure Candace Owens. The announcement was made by Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of The Daily Wire, via a tweet on Friday morning.

Owens, known for her vitriolic MAGA conservative commentary and conspiracy theories, joined The Daily Wire in 2021, hosting her own daily podcast. While Shapiro had previously defended Owens' rhetoric, their relationship took a sharp turn following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7.

The feud between Owens and Shapiro initially began in November of last year when Owens tweeted about the rights of governments committing genocide, without explicitly mentioning Israel. Her comments were widely criticized by conservative media figures, including Shapiro who labeled her behavior as "disgraceful" and criticized her "faux-sophistication" on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The tensions escalated further when Owens posted a series of Bible verses on social media that were seen by many as referencing the antisemitic "dual loyalty" trope against Shapiro. He responded by daring Owens to quit The Daily Wire if she believed taking money from the organization conflicted with her faith.

Their feud intensified with each passing week, with Owens accusing Shapiro of being unprofessional and emotionally unhinged. Owens found support in Tucker Carlson, who invited her for a friendly interview on his web show, where they both criticized Shapiro's approach.

However, Owens' rhetoric took a darker turn when she liked a social media post that made an antisemitic reference to conservative rabbi Shmuley Boteach. The post insinuated that Boteach was "drunk on Christian blood again," alluding to the antisemitic "blood libel" canard. This came only days after Owens had hinted at a Jewish "gang" in Hollywood using other antisemitic tropes.

The breaking point in their relationship seems to have been reached, as The Daily Wire officially cut ties with Owens. Representatives for both The Daily Wire and Owens declined to comment on the situation.

This isn't the first time Owens and Shapiro have clashed, as they had previous public conflicts in 2022 when Owens defended Kanye West's controversial tweet about Jewish people. At the time, Shapiro expressed hesitation in criticizing Owens, but he has since been more critical of her actions.
