Texas Men's Swimming & Diving Team Strong on Day Two of NCAA Championships

The Texas Men's Swimming & Diving team showcased their prowess on the second day of the NCAA Championships, securing three top-seven finishes and accumulating a total of 106 points. The competition, held at the Indiana University Natatorium from Thursday to Saturday, witnessed the Longhorns' impressive performance.

Currently ranked fifth overall, Texas has displayed their determination and skill, undeterred by the tough competition. The team's standout performances have placed them in contention for a podium finish. Arizona State currently holds the top spot with 201 points, closely followed by California with 169 points and Florida with 161 points. Indiana sits in fourth place with 107 points.

In the 1-meter springboard consolation final, Texas athletes excelled, contributing valuable points to the team's total. Jack Harris emerged as the top performer in the consolation round, scoring an impressive 384.20 points, securing the ninth overall position. Following closely behind, Grayson Duperre secured 11th place with a score of 371.25 points.

As the competition progresses into its third day on Friday, March 29, and extends through Saturday, March 30, Texas Men's Swimming & Diving will continue their quest for success at the IU Natatorium. The upcoming events include the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 3-meter springboard diving, and 400-yard medley relay. Preceded by prelims starting at 9 a.m. CT, the finals sessions will commence at 5 p.m. CT. Fans can catch all the exhilarating action via live streaming on ESPN+.

During the 500 free prelims, Texas athlete Alex Carrozza achieved a remarkable feat, leaping to the eighth position on UT's all-time performer rankings with a new career-best time of 4:10.74. Additionally, Drew Hobson displayed his prowess with a swift 500 free prelim swim of 4:10.28, securing the 19th-fastest time in Texas history. Furthermore, Carrozza's time of 4:10.74 now ranks as the 23rd-fastest in the program's history. Hobson is making his mark in the 500 free, boasting three of the top five times in the history of the program.

In the 200 IM prelims, Jesse Germonprez showcased his talent by touching the wall in 1:41.35, earning the 23rd-fastest time in the program's history. Another standout performer, Sam Pomajevich, achieved a 200 IM season-best time of 1:42.73 during the morning prelim session, further highlighting the Longhorns' strength in this discipline.

With consistent top performances and remarkable rankings, the Texas Men's Swimming & Diving team continues to make their mark at the NCAA Championships. As the competition intensifies, all eyes will be on the Longhorns as they vie for the podium and leave their mark in the program's history.
