In another tragic incident during the ongoing severe weather outbreak across the nation, a 10-year-old boy in Tennessee is fighting for his life after being swept away by rushing water into a storm drain. According to Rutherford County Schools, the young boy, identified as Asher, is currently in critical condition.
The harrowing incident took place in Asher's neighborhood following the severe weather outbreak that has been affecting the state. The school district made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community for Superintendent Jimmy Sullivan, his family, and specifically his son, Asher.
Asher was severely injured on the previous night when he was swept into a storm drain in their neighborhood. Sullivan provided details about his son's condition on his personal Facebook page, stating that Asher is in dire need of a miracle. The boy was swept under the neighborhood streets and eventually emerged in a drainage ditch, where CPR was administered for an extended period of time.
While the community rallied together to clean up storm debris and rebuild fences, Sullivan mentioned that the neighborhood kids were playing in the water on the streets. Unfortunately, Asher got caught in the storm drain, leading to severe lung damage and minimal brain activity beyond muscle jerks.
Rutherford County experienced a Tornado Emergency on Wednesday evening, as western portions of the county were under the most dire warning from the National Weather Service. A confirmed tornado in the Eagleville area further exacerbated the severe weather conditions.
This week has seen a significant number of severe weather events across the country, with Wednesday marking the second-most-active severe weather day of the year. Nearly 400 reports of damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes have been recorded, leaving a trail of destruction and numerous communities on high alert.
As Asher fights for his life, the local community has come together to support the Sullivan family. The school board is organizing a voluntary vigil for the community to gather and offer their prayers at their offices. The family has requested prayers for Asher's healing, particularly focused on his lungs and brain activity.
The nation prays for Asher's recovery and for an end to the relentless severe weather outbreaks that have continued to wreak havoc across several states.
