In a thrilling twist for the NASCAR Cup teams, the highly anticipated inaugural trip to Iowa Speedway awaits them this weekend. As the season enters its 17th race, this new venue promises to bring a fresh wave of excitement. USA Network will be broadcasting all the action, from practice sessions and qualifying to the main event, providing fans with front-row seats to witness the showdown.

Before the green flag drops on Sunday, let's take a closer look at the current standing of each Cup organization and their journey leading up to this crucial race.

23XI Racing enters Iowa Speedway with a tale of mixed fortunes. Tyler Reddick has been on an impressive streak, securing eight top-10 finishes in the last 11 races. Additionally, Reddick has triumphed in two stages within the past four races. However, Bubba Wallace has struggled recently, managing just one top-10 finish in the last seven races.

Front Row Motorsports had a breakthrough performance last weekend at Sonoma, with both their cars finishing in the top 10 for the first time this season. Michael McDowell grabbed an outstanding second-place finish, while Todd Gilliland secured a solid tenth place. Unfortunately, the organization has faced challenges, experiencing six instances where a car failed to finish a race, double the number from last year.

Hendrick Motorsports has reason to celebrate, boasting impressive accomplishments. Kyle Larson and William Byron are currently tied for the most wins this year with three each, sharing the spotlight with Denny Hamlin. Larson has shown exceptional proficiency on tracks less than a mile, achieving an average finish of 3.3 in the three races at such venues, including Bristol, Richmond, and Martinsville. Both Larson and Chase Elliott are the only drivers to secure top-10 finishes in all three races at tracks of this nature. Elliott holds the best average finish of 9.5 this season, and William Byron has emerged as the leading driver in the Next Gen car, notching 11 Cup wins. Interestingly, the Hendrick Motorsports team has been penalty-free for speeding on pit road this season. However, Alex Bowman is the only driver within the organization who hasn't accumulated any playoff points so far.

Joe Gibbs Racing faced a setback at Sonoma, with Denny Hamlin's blown engine early in the race knocking him out of the points lead. Martin Truex Jr. also struggled, losing 25 positions due to fuel depletion on the last lap. Their promising newcomer, Ty Gibbs, faced disappointment as well, finishing second-to-last after colliding with the wall.

JTG Daugherty Racing's Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has a favorable history at Iowa Speedway, having won three consecutive races in the Xfinity Series between 2011-2012. However, in recent races, Stenhouse has only managed one top-10 finish out of the last 14 races. Additionally, he has been penalized five times for speeding on pit road this season, the highest number in the series.

Kaulig Racing finds solace in the consistency of Daniel Hemric, who is one of only three drivers to have completed all 16 races this season, alongside Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. Unfortunately, the team has struggled on short tracks, securing just one top-10 finish in 27 starts. AJ Allmendinger's seventh-place finish at Bristol in 2022 remains their best performance on this type of track.

Legacy Motor Club can celebrate a significant improvement compared to last year, with only four races ending in a failure to finish. Erik Jones has proven his prowess at Iowa, securing two Truck wins and one Xfinity win at the track. John Hunter Nemechek has also emerged victorious in the Truck series at Iowa.

Richard Childress Racing has a historical connection to Iowa Speedway, as Austin Dillon clinched his first NASCAR national series win in a 2010 Truck race at the venue, marking the return of the iconic black No. 3 to victory lane. However, the team faces some concerns, as Kyle Busch's winless drought stretches to a career-high 37 races. Despite having 47 career stage victories, Busch has yet to claim a stage win this season. Moreover, Busch and Dillon have struggled on tracks less than a mile, with average finishes of 20.3 and 27.3, respectively.

As teams prepare to tackle the challenges of Iowa Speedway for the first time in NASCAR Cup history, the stakes are high. The mix of momentum and the need for a breakthrough creates a captivating storyline. Don't miss the action, as USA Network's coverage of the race kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET, showcasing the intense competition and giving fans a front-row seat to witness history in the making.
