In a sensational finale to the swimming events at the Paris Olympics, Team USA showcased their dominance by clinching gold and breaking world records in the women's and men's medley relays at the Paris La Défense Arena.

The women's 4x100-meter medley relay witnessed a breathtaking performance by Regan Smith (backstroke), Lilly King (breaststroke), Gretchen Walsh (butterfly), and Torri Huske (freestyle). The American quartet emerged as the clear winners, leaving their competitors in the dust with a remarkable lead of nearly four seconds. Clocking in at an impressive time of 3:49.63, they not only shattered the Olympic record set by Australia in the Tokyo Games but also surpassed their own world record set in 2019.

Not to be outdone, the men's medley relay team comprising Ryan Murphy (backstroke), Nic Fink (breaststroke), Caeleb Dressel (butterfly), and Hunter Armstrong (freestyle) delivered a commendable performance. With a time of 3:28.01, they secured the silver medal. However, it marked the first time in a non-boycotted Olympics that the U.S. men failed to capture gold in the medley relay event.

China reigned supreme in the men's medley relay, clinching the gold medal with a lightning-fast time of 3:27.46. France thrilled the home crowd by securing the bronze medal in a time of 3:28.38.

In the preliminary races held the day before, both the men's and women's medley relay teams showcased their prowess. The men's team, consisting of Hunter Armstrong (backstroke), Charlie Swanson (breaststroke), Thomas Heilman (butterfly), and Jack Alexy (freestyle), qualified third with a time of 3:31.62. Meanwhile, the women's team, comprising Katharine Berkoff (backstroke), Emma Weber (breaststroke), Alex Shackell (butterfly), and Kate Douglass (freestyle), secured the fourth spot with a time of 3:56.40.

The outstanding achievements of Team USA in the swimming events of the Paris Olympics are a testament to their unwavering dedication and commitment. Surpassing their own records and clinching gold medals in the medley relays, the American swimmers have left an indelible mark in Olympic history.

The Paris Olympics will now move on to other enthralling sporting events, as nations from around the world continue to showcase their extraordinary talents and compete for glory.
