In an effort to promote sustainability and safe transportation for children, retail giant Target has announced the return of its highly anticipated car seat trade-in event. Running for the next two weeks, from Sunday, September 15 to Saturday, September 28, customers who participate in the program by trading in their old car seats or bases will receive a generous 20% discount on new car seats, strollers, or select baby gear.
To take advantage of this eco-friendly initiative, customers can simply drop off their old car seats at designated boxes conveniently located near Guest Services inside Target stores. After completing the drop-off, customers will be directed to scan a QR code near the drop-off boxes in order to receive their Target Circle Bonus.
According to the company's website, this special offer can be redeemed until October 12, allowing customers ample time to select their desired items and make the most of the 20% discount which can be used twice. Target also emphasizes that the trade-in program is open to all types of car seats, including infant car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harnesses, and booster car seats. They will even accept expired or damaged car seats, ensuring that no car seat goes to waste.
In addition to the benefit to customers, Target is committed to the sustainable disposal of old car seats. The materials from these car seats are recycled and repurposed for a variety of applications such as pallets, plastic buckets, steel beams, and carpet padding. This recycling program aligns with Target's ambitious goal of achieving zero waste in landfills by the year 2030.
Since its inception in 2016, the car seat trade-in program at Target has already made a significant impact. Over 3 million car seats and a staggering 45 million pounds of car seat materials have been recycled, reducing the environmental footprint in the process.
To ensure widespread participation, all Target stores, except for certain small-format stores, will be part of this program. For additional information and specific details, Target advises customers to reach out to their local store.
Target's car seat trade-in event is not only an opportunity for customers to receive valuable discounts on new baby gear but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of environmental responsibility. By taking part in this initiative and recycling their old car seats, customers can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future while ensuring the safety and well-being of their little ones during their journeys.
