In an exciting turn of events, the T20 World Cup Group 1 has become a battleground for Afghanistan, Australia, and Bangladesh as they vie for a spot in the semi-finals. India secured their place in the last four stage after defeating Australia by 24 runs with a brilliant performance led by skipper Rohit Sharma.

The points table in Group 1 now stands as follows - India leading with 6 points from 3 games and an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR) of +2.017. Australia follows with 2 points from 3 games and an NRR of -0.331. Afghanistan has 2 points from 2 matches with an NRR of -0.650, while Bangladesh has yet to secure any points from 2 matches and has an NRR of -2.489.

For Afghanistan to secure a place in the semi-finals, they must secure a victory over Bangladesh. This win will take them to 4 points and make them the second team from Group 1 to advance to the last four stage.

On the other hand, Australia can only enter the semi-finals if Afghanistan loses to Bangladesh by a margin of less than 61 runs (considering a first innings total of 160) or within 13 overs.

In the recent match where Australia suffered a loss, it was Rohit Sharma's exemplary performance that propelled India to victory. Playing a remarkable knock of 92 runs off just 41 balls, Rohit struck eight sixes and seven fours, guiding India to a formidable total of 205 for 5. In response, Australia managed to score 181 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Travis Head's contribution of 76 off 43 balls.

The Indian bowlers also played a significant role in restricting Australia's innings. Kuldeep Yadav, with figures of 2/24, showcased excellent performance in the middle overs, while Arshdeep Singh ended with figures of 3/37.

During India's innings, Rohit's brilliant assault on pacer Mitchell Starc, scoring 29 runs in a single over, set the tone for India's dominance. Starc, however, came back to dismiss the Indian captain, providing some relief for the Australian camp. Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 16 balls) and Shivam Dube (28 off 22) maintained the momentum with their big hits, and Hardik Pandya finished the innings in style with a quickfire 27 off 17 balls.

As the T20 World Cup intensifies, the race for the semi-finals in Group 1 remains wide open. Afghanistan, Australia, and Bangladesh will be closely watched as they battle it out for the coveted spots in the last four stage.
