In the world of swimming competitions, understanding the terminology of "Ups," "Mids," and "Downs" is crucial for tracking team performances during prelims. Swimmers compete in three finals heats based on their rankings in prelims: the A final for the top 8 finishers, the B final for places 9 through 16, and the C final for places 17 through 24. Once locked into their respective final, swimmers cannot place higher or lower than their designated heat position, regardless of their final time. The concept of "Ups" denotes swimmers in the A final, while "Mids" represent those in the B final, and "Downs" indicate swimmers in the C final. Stay tuned for updates on how teams and swimmers fare in each preliminary session based on their "Ups," "Mids," and "Downs" standings.
