A suspect, Raad Almansoori, 26, has been apprehended in Arizona on charges related to a brutal beating death of a 38-year-old New York City woman, Denisse Oleas-Arancibia. Almansoori, known to have an extensive out-of-state arrest history in Florida, Texas, and Arizona, is believed to have been in a dispute with Oleas-Arancibia over the duration of a hotel room encounter which turned deadly. The suspect was also charged last year in Florida with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman. Oleas-Arancibia's body was found after a missing person's report was filed by her 18-year-old son in Jackson Heights. The cause of death was determined to be compression of the neck and blunt head trauma. Authorities are looking to extradite Almansoori to New York to face charges in connection with her death. Oleas-Arancibia's son, Edwin Cevallos, described his mother as hardworking and devoted to providing a good life for her family. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has dispatched a prosecutor to Arizona for the extradition process. NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, Tarik Sheppard, expressed relief that the suspect has been taken into custody in Arizona.
