According to a recent survey released by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult, former President Donald Trump is gaining more support than President Joe Biden in at least seven swing states that could potentially determine the outcome of the election. The poll, conducted online from February 12 to 20, surveyed 4,955 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

In a hypothetical general election scenario, Trump was found to be ahead of Biden in all seven swing states. The largest lead for Trump was in North Carolina, where he garnered 50 percent support compared to Biden's 41 percent. It is worth noting that Trump won North Carolina in the 2020 election. However, neither candidate secured a majority show of support in any of the other six swing states.

The survey revealed that 48 percent of voters across all seven states would back Trump, while 43 percent would support Biden. Trump maintained a 6-point lead over Biden in Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, all of which Biden had carried in the 2020 election. The gap was narrower in Wisconsin and Michigan, which were also won by Biden in the previous presidential election. In Wisconsin, Biden trailed Trump by 4 percentage points, and in Michigan, he lagged behind by 2 percentage points.

The poll also shed light on some concerns raised by the respondents. Approximately 8 in 10 voters across all states expressed worries about Biden's age, while nearly 6 in 10 voters labeled Trump as "dangerous." Interestingly, voters were more likely to describe the former president as mentally fit compared to the incumbent.

The Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll carries a margin of error of 1 percentage point for all seven swing states as a whole. When broken down by state, the margin of error varies between 3 and 5 percentage points, depending on the specific state.

These poll results come following the recent 2024 Michigan presidential primary, where both front-runners from their respective parties emerged victorious. As the election landscape continues to unfold, these swing states will undoubtedly shape the political narrative and potentially influence the outcome of the 2024 election.
