A powerful storm system is forecasted to impact Northern California starting today, bringing with it heavy rain, strong winds, high surf, thunderstorms, and potential flooding. According to the predictions, rain is expected to start around mid-day and intensify through the night, with moderate to major impacts lasting into Monday.

As per the information gathered from satellite observations, the storm currently underway is producing significant lightning, 60 mph winds, and up to 30 ft seas. The conditions are expected to worsen throughout the afternoon and evening, with urban areas, small creeks, and streams at risk of flooding due to high rain rates. Saturday's rainfall has already saturated the soils, raising concerns for efficient runoff and potential flooding.

The storm is likely to stall off the coast of Northern California over the next 24 hours, leading to the pumping of tropical moisture over the Bay Area. Strong southerly winds, with gusts reaching 30 to 45 mph, are also predicted, posing threats of downed trees, power outages, and shallow landslides. The weather system will continue to impact the region into Monday, with another round of strong southerly winds and potential thunderstorms.

By Tuesday, the conditions are expected to gradually improve as the low pressure system moves northwards towards the Pacific Northwest. Wednesday will see a further reduction in rain showers, with Thursday looking to be mostly dry. Residents are advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and be prepared for potential impacts from the ongoing storm system.
