The stage is set for an exciting showdown at the 2024 Tour de France, with an impressive peloton of 176 riders from 22 teams gearing up for the grueling race. Among the contenders are three talented American riders, who have been making waves in the cycling world with their recent strong performances.

One of the standout riders expected to make an impact is Matteo Jorgenson. The 24-year-old Idahoan has quickly established himself as a valuable asset to the Visma - Lease a Bike squad. Jorgenson's achievements include a solo victory at Dwars Door Vlaanderen and becoming the third American ever to win a stage in the prestigious Paris-Nice race earlier this year. With two previous Tour de France appearances under his belt, Jorgenson aims to build on his exciting performances from last year.

Neilson Powless, riding for the EF Education-EasyPost team, will also be one to watch. Powless showcased his climbing prowess at the previous edition of the Tour de France, donning the coveted King of the Mountain's jersey for several stages. Despite a nagging knee injury limiting his appearances this season, Powless displayed strong form at the USA Cycling National Road Racing championship, assisting his teammate Sean Quinn to victory and clinching bronze medals in both the national road race and time trial championship.

Making his Tour de France debut this year is 24-year-old Sean Quinn, the US national road racing champion. While expected to support the more experienced riders of the EF Education team, such as Richard Carapaz, Rui Costa, Alberto Bettiol, and Powless, Quinn has shown his capabilities as a strong climber and powerful sprinter. With the opening stage already promising hilly challenges, Quinn's skills will be put to the test as he aims to contribute to his team's quest for a stage victory.

With no General Classification contender, the American team's focus will shift towards securing individual stage wins. The three American riders will undoubtedly bring their determination, talent, and team spirit to the Tour de France, aiming to make their mark and continue the impressive legacy of American cyclists in the prestigious race.

As the 2024 Tour de France kicks off in Florence, Italy on June 29th, cycling enthusiasts around the world eagerly await the thrilling battles and heroic feats that await us. Stay tuned for the exhilarating performances of these American riders as they compete against the best in the world, fueled by their desire to leave their mark on one of the toughest sporting events on the planet.
