As the work week begins in Chicagoland, residents can enjoy pleasant and quiet weather. However, it is expected that things will take a turn towards stormy conditions in the coming days.

Monday morning opened with cloud cover, but as the day progresses, sunshine will increase in the afternoon hours. Inland areas can expect highs in the lower 70s, while southern and southwestern areas will see temperatures well into the 70s. Along the lakefront, temperatures will stay in the lower 60s, making it cooler.

Despite the overall warming trend, it was still in the mid-50s along the lake as noon approached. Throughout the day, the area is expected to experience a gradual increase in temperature. High pressure will keep the weather dry on Monday in Chicagoland.

However, a storm system is building up to the west and is projected to roll into the area by Tuesday morning. Storms are expected to move through Chicagoland during the Tuesday morning commute and continue into late morning. There is also a possibility of another round of storms in the afternoon, which could be stronger and potentially severe.

For most of Chicagoland, the threat of severe weather remains low. However, parts of Northwest Indiana have a marginal risk. Chicagoland can expect stormy conditions and warm, humid weather to persist through Wednesday. But as the latter part of the week approaches, the weather will calm down, and temperatures will cool off heading into the Mother's Day weekend.

For today, there will be decreasing clouds with cooler temperatures along the lakeside. Winds will come from the east at 5-10 mph. Highs are expected to reach 71 degrees inland and 62 degrees along the lakefront. Tonight, clouds will increase, and winds will be from the east at 5-15 mph. The low temperature will be around 59 degrees.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, it will be mostly cloudy with the possibility of thunderstorms. Winds will come from the west-southwest at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. The high temperature is expected to be around 72 degrees.

As Chicagoland prepares for stormy weather in the midweek, residents are advised to stay informed about any changes in the forecast and take necessary precautions for severe weather conditions.
