In the early hours of Tuesday, a powerful storm wreaked havoc in the Willard area, causing extensive damage to trees, power lines, roofs, and even a garage. The National Weather Service swiftly assessed the situation, surveying the aftermath of the storm in western Greene County.

The storm struck at around 1 a.m., unleashing fierce winds that toppled trees both in the vicinity of the Greene Hills Country Club and to the northeast of it. Crews from Liberty Utility braved the adverse conditions, tirelessly working to restore power lines around the golf course.

Residents in the area witnessed the relentless fury of the storm. Gail Simmons, whose backyard incurred significant tree damage, described the experience as one filled with deafening sounds, unsettlingly vibrant lightning, and a decision to stay awake throughout the night until the storm subsided.

Roofs and a garage were not spared from the storm's wrath either, with visible damage observed on properties along Fairway Street, just north of the affected area. The front yards of these properties were scattered with debris and fallen tree limbs, showcasing the powerful force of the storm. No specific numbers of damaged properties or injuries were reported.

Local authorities and emergency services swiftly responded to the situation, working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the storm. Cleanup efforts are underway, as residents and local agencies unite to restore normalcy to the community.
