## Steelers to Host Vikings in Historic Dublin NFL Game
In a historic announcement made in February, the NFL revealed that the Pittsburgh Steelers would be part of the first-ever regular season game held in Dublin, Ireland. The league has now disclosed the specifics: the Steelers, playing as the home team, will face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the iconic Croke Park. The kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, which corresponds to 2:30 p.m. local time in Ireland.
The game will be broadcast on NFL Network and available to international viewers through NFL Game Pass on DAZN. NFL+ will also stream the event. Art Rooney II, President of the Steelers, emphasized the significance of this game, particularly due to the Rooney family's Irish heritage. "The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there but because it allows us to connect with Irish fans while also giving fans who travel from Pittsburgh and beyond a unique football experience," Rooney stated.
The Rooney family's connection to Ireland runs deep, with the late Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney having served as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland from 2009-2012. Dan Rooney also co-founded The Ireland Funds in 1976, demonstrating his lifelong passion for Irish culture. It had been a long-time dream of his to see a regular season game played on Irish soil.
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin expressed his enthusiasm, noting both the honor of representing American football internationally and the personal connection to Dan Rooney. "It is a great honor to play the game that we love and be able to do so on foreign soil," Tomlin said, adding that Rooney would have been thrilled about this opportunity.
Croke Park, known for hosting major events such as the All-Ireland Finals for Gaelic football and hurling and the 2023 Special Olympics, will serve as the venue for this remarkable event. The Steelers have a history at Croke Park, having played a preseason game there against the Chicago Bears in 1997.
Over the years, the Steelers' popularity in Ireland has surged. They were granted rights to expand their brand on the island as part of the NFL’s 'Global Markets Program' in 2023. Since then, they have hosted events including youth football clinics and watch parties, and even celebrated their first-ever Draft Party in Ireland in 2025.
Fans looking forward to this historic match can register for ticket information on the NFL's website, with tickets going on sale this summer. Earlier this year, the Steelers partnered with Aer Lingus, making the airline their Official Airline and a Founding Partner of Steelers Ireland. Aer Lingus offers extensive travel options, ensuring a seamless journey for fans traveling to Dublin from both North America and Europe.
