**Steelers Set to Start Russell Wilson in Sunday Night Showdown Against the Jets**

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin appears to have made his decision regarding the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the New York Jets. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Russell Wilson is slated to take the helm for Pittsburgh for the first time since his offseason acquisition.

Despite a strong start to the season by Justin Fields, who led the Steelers to a 4-2 record while amassing 1,106 passing yards, five touchdowns, and a standout 93.9 passer rating, Tomlin has opted to go with the veteran presence of Wilson. Fields’ performance, however, will not be entirely sidelined, as reports indicate he will still see some playing time during the game.

Wilson, who has been nursing a calf injury since training camp, was able to fully participate in practice this week. The 35-year-old quarterback took significant reps with the first-team offense, signaling his readiness to lead the team. Steelers wide receiver George Pickens spoke to the media on Friday, revealing that he had been working closely with Wilson after practices to build rapport ahead of the Week 7 game.

Last season, Wilson started 15 games for the Denver Broncos, where he threw for 26 touchdowns against eight interceptions, achieving a commendable 98.0 passer rating. This marked a considerable improvement from his 2022 season, where he recorded career lows with just 16 touchdowns and a passer rating of 84.4 over 15 games.

The Steelers, currently tied for the top spot in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens at 4-2, are looking to gain an edge as they face the Jets on Sunday night. With Wilson under center, Pittsburgh aims to solidify their standings and push forward in their pursuit for postseason success.
