### Springville Meat & Cold Storage Co. Recalls Over 15,000 Pounds of Jerky Products Due to Undeclared Allergens

In a recent announcement, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported that Springville Meat & Cold Storage Co., Inc., based in Springville, Utah, is recalling approximately 15,388 pounds of heat-treated shelf-stable ready-to-eat (RTE) beef jerky and beef snack sticks. In addition, the recall extends to voluntarily inspected elk, venison, and buffalo jerky products. This recall is prompted by misbranding and the presence of undeclared allergens – specifically, fish (anchovies).

The affected products, which were produced over a span of two years from May 30, 2023, to May 30, 2025, bear the establishment number "EST. 20528" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items have been distributed to retail locations nationwide, heightening the potential risk to consumers.

FSIS inspectors discovered the issue during routine production observations. The source of the undeclared allergen was identified as Worcestershire sauce containing anchovies, which differs from the anchovy-free Worcestershire sauce previously used by the company.

Currently, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. However, FSIS cautions that some consumers may still have these products in their pantries and advises that they should either discard the items or return them to the place of purchase.

The FSIS is actively monitoring the recall process to ensure its effectiveness and to verify that the recalled products are no longer accessible to consumers. For further updates, including retail distribution lists, consumers are encouraged to visit the FSIS website.

For any concerns or questions regarding the recall, consumers are directed to contact Ryan Cope, owner of Springville Meat & Cold Storage Co. Additional food safety inquiries can be addressed by calling the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline or via email.
