In a shocking turn of events, the bodies of six individuals were discovered on Tuesday in a high-end hotel in downtown Bangkok, Thailand. Thai authorities suspect poisoning to be the cause of death, as the victims were found foaming at the mouth.
An officer from the Lumpini police station, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the victims were two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals. Among the deceased, there were three males and three females. The group had booked multiple rooms at the prestigious Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, using seven different names. Some of them were even lodged on a separate floor from where they were eventually found dead.
According to Bangkok police chief Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, investigators are still searching for a seventh person who was included in the hotel booking. During a press conference held at the scene, he emphasized that there were no apparent signs of a struggle in the hotel room.
Reports indicate that the occupants of the room were scheduled to check out earlier that day, and their luggage had already been packed. The bodies were only discovered when a maid, who had become concerned after they failed to check out, found the room locked from the inside.
Thiti further stated that while there were traces of uneaten food from room service, it appeared that drinks had been consumed. The exact cause of death has not been confirmed at this stage of the investigation.
The hotel staff alerted the police in the afternoon, prompting a swift response. Even Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin visited the hotel in the evening, although no additional information was provided to the gathered journalists.
As investigations continue, questions surrounding who the seventh person is, the motive behind the possible poisoning, and the exact circumstances leading up to this tragic incident remain unanswered. The police are expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
The local authorities have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information that might aid in solving this perplexing case. The hotel, a popular destination for both tourists and business travelers, is currently cooperating fully with the investigation.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and thoughts and condolences are pouring in for the victims and their families during this tragic time.
