In a significant victory for the U.S. solar manufacturing industry, Shoals Technologies Group, Inc. ("Shoals"), a global leader in electrical balance of system ("EBOS") solutions, has received a favorable legal ruling from the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in a patent infringement complaint against Voltage, LLC and a related foreign entity.

An Administrative Law Judge at the ITC recently issued an initial ruling, stating that Voltage violated the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing LYNX trunk bus products that infringe on Shoals' patented technology. The ruling, if upheld by the Commission, will prevent the unlawful imports of photovoltaic connectors that use Shoals' intellectual property, providing improved solar panel array connectors.

Shoals' patented Big Lead Assembly (BLA) connectors, invented and manufactured in the U.S., offer significant advantages, including cost savings through the reduction of combiner boxes, minimized material and labor costs, and long-term maintenance benefits.

The ITC investigation is scheduled to conclude in late December, with a potential Presidential review in February 2025. Following the final resolution of the case, Shoals plans to resume the District Court case in the Middle District of North Carolina against Voltage to pursue monetary damages.
