Severe Weather Threat Leads to School Closures Across Capital Region

BATON ROUGE, La. – Due to the forecasted severe weather threat in the Capital Region, several schools have made the decision to cancel classes and close their respective campuses on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Ascension Public Schools has announced that all of its campuses and offices will be closed on Wednesday, April 10. Additionally, all activities scheduled for that day will be canceled.

In East Baton Rouge Parish, all Iberville Parish schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, April 10, in response to the predicted weather conditions.

Pointe Coupee Parish Public Schools and its district office will also remain closed on Wednesday, April 10, due to the anticipated severe weather conditions.

St. Helena Parish schools and district offices will follow suit and close on April 10 as well, in light of the severe weather forecast.

Similarly, St. James Parish schools and district offices have made the decision to close on April 10, 2024.

All West Baton Rouge schools and district offices will also be closed on Wednesday, April 10, aligning with the precautionary measures taken in response to the severe weather warning.
