Severe Weather Alert for San Antonio and Hill Country: Potential for Hail, Gusty Winds, and Heavy Rain

San Antonio, Texas - The San Antonio metro area and parts of the Hill Country are at risk of severe weather on Friday afternoon and evening, according to Sarah Spivey, a meteorologist with the KSAT Weather Authority. The window for potential storms will be between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 15.

The main threats during this time period are expected to be large hail, gusty winds, and heavy downpours. However, it is important to note that these risks will only be present if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued. Earlier in the day, there might be some rain, but the greater chance for storms will be between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Spivey emphasizes that not everyone will experience hail, but it is crucial for residents to remain weather-aware in case a strong storm develops in their location. In the event of hail, it could be larger than the size of golf balls. Individuals are advised to stay indoors and keep away from windows as a precautionary measure. It is recommended to have the KSAT Weather Authority App and radar readily available for real-time updates throughout the day.

In addition to Friday's potential severe weather, there will be ongoing chances of rainfall through the weekend and into early next week. The much-needed rain is welcomed news for the area.

To stay prepared and informed, residents are encouraged to download KSAT's weather app for customized and accurate forecasts specific to the San Antonio and South Texas region. The latest forecasts, radar, and alerts can also be found on the KSAT Weather Authority page.

Sarah Spivey, a San Antonio native and graduate of Clark High School and Texas A&M University, has been a member of the KSAT Weather Authority Team since 2017. She brings her expertise and passion for weather forecasting to the community.

As residents brace themselves for the potential severe weather on Friday, Spivey urges everyone to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Remember to stay updated with the latest weather information and preparedness tips provided by the KSAT Weather Authority.
